Last weekend a couple friends of mine played in a racquetball tournament at the Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC). I wanted to play but had to go out of town the last 2 days of the tournament. So instead I contacted the tournament director and asked if it would be ok if I came out and photographed some of the matches while I was still in town. It was my first time photographing racquetball and I quickly realized it is one of the hardest sports I’ve ever tried to photograph. Play is fast, the rooms are dark, and the players spend the majority of their time with there backs to the viewing areas.
The event was for both amateurs and pros and I got to watch a couple of pro matches. It was amazing how fast the pros could hit their shots and how finely tuned their game is because all of their shots are very precisely aimed.
Below are a few of my favorite images.
