I was browsing through twitter looking at the news and happenings of the world. I saw that over at – they have announced the first round of semi-finalists for the viewbug / photofocus image contest. I started to browse through the pics to see what great images were chosen and I was pretty shocked to see that my image of the Eiffel Towermade the list! :-)

It’s the third link on the announcement

If you get a chance go vote for me :-) thanks.

Announcement: New Site Design!

As you can see I’ve got a new site that is not only a blog but a portfolio and online hub for getting in touch with me. I have been working on this for sometime now and after taking a look at tons of other sites out there and taking inspiration from a number of wordpress themes I’ve seen out there I put together the UI for the Portfolio and blog page . My goal was to keep the layout super clean + simple and make the content stand out.

After mocking up exactly what I wanted in photoshop I sent my images to my good buddy Adam over at On-Call Genius to do the coding.

Adam is the guy I always turn when I have a web project and need help. He did a terrific job and knocked this out in a couple of weekends. I could not have done it without him and the site works better than I hoped.

Below is a pic of him that I took for a project a few years ago.

I am really proud of this new site and would love to know what you guys think of it!

Gear: New Bag (First Impressions)

Tenba Medium Messanger Camera Bag --- My new friend

Just as many other photographers out there I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect bag. A bag that functionally fits all of my needs and looks good. Do not get me wrong, I’m not a crazy camera bag whore with a closet full of bags; like some photographers I know. I actually have sold off all of my old bags on Ebay and have been using a nice canvas overnight duffle I got for $20 at Ross to carry my gear in. Well I think my search has ended (at least for now). I just purchased the Tenba Medium Messanger Camera Bag and when I got home from it’s maiden shoot my first thought about the bag was, “I love this new bag!”

So why do I love this bag?

I love my monkeypod

As I just finished my latest great adventure, which took my wife Casey and me to multiple continents, I’ve begun the process of organizing, cataloging, and editing the images from the trip. But after a conversation with someone on google+ I realized one piece of camera gear that I am so happy to have and use is my Joby Gorillapod, or as my wife always calls it the “monkeypod” since she thinks it’s a cuter name for it.
